THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL, VISION, AND HEARING INSURANCE
Dental, Vision, and Hearing are all an important part of our everyday lives. It is important to routinely care for our mouth, eyes, and ears.
Studies have linked good oral hygiene with better health (gingivitis is a big culprit). Good oral hygiene lowers the risk of heart disease, improves memory and cognitive skills, reduces the risk of infection and inflammation, and keeps
blood sugar stable.
Vision is an essential part of how we learn, communicate, work, and play. Routine eye care is often overlooked but is an important way to protect your eyes and overall health. Routine eye exams can detect glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Routine eye exams can also detect signs of other serious health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, or a brain tumor.
Routine hearing exams are important so that if hearing loss does occur, it can be managed. It is common for people with hearing loss to become disconnected from the world they know because they cannot as easily follow what is going on. They tend to stop putting themselves in social situations, which can cause them to feel isolated and can lead to depression.
Medicare does not cover routine dental, vision, or hearing exams. Many Major Medical plans do not cover routine dental, vision, or hearing exams, though there may be some coverage for children. Many people neglect this area because of the costs associated with care, but there are insurance plans to help cover some of these costs.
Medicare Advantage plans – Some Medicare Advantage plans have some dental, vision, and hearing aid coverage.
Individual Dental, Vision, and Hearing Plans – Good for Medicare beneficiaries who may not have coverage through their Medicare plan or they want additional coverage, and individuals without coverage through an employer.
Family Dental and Vision Plans – Good for families who do not have coverage through an employer.
